ANTIQUE & LOCAL MARKET AT THE SQUARE
During the summer season, Montauroux hosts an antique and flea market on Place du Clos approximately once a month, with vintage furniture, ceramics, old linens and all sorts of curiosities to browse. In addition, the regular local market takes place on the square every Tuesday and Sunday morning, offering fresh produce, local products and a lively taste of everyday village life.The square is only about a 12-minute walk from the house, although the uphill walk makes it feel a little longer.
Lac de Saint-Cassien
Just a 10-minute drive from the house, Lac de Saint-Cassien is a beautiful freshwater lake surrounded by wooded hills and Provençal countryside. It is a perfect place to spend a warm summer day swimming, relaxing by the water, or renting a kayak, paddleboard or pedal boat.With its calm water and natural surroundings, the lake is particularly popular with families and offers a peaceful alternative to a day at the coast. During the summer months, parking can be difficult, so it is worth arriving early.
Pont des Tuves
Just a 10-minute drive from the house, Pont des TTuves is tucked away in the gorges of the Haute Siagne. This beautifully preserved stone bridge dates back to 1802, and the crystal-clear turquoise water beneath it makes it a popular place for a refreshing swim after a short walk through the countryside.The area is also a great starting point for several hiking routes through the surrounding gorges and woodland. With its dense greenery, dramatic rock formations and clear water, it is a peaceful and picturesque place to spend a few hours on a warm day.
Vegetable Market close to callian
Marché Paysan in Montauroux is a wonderful place to shop for fresh, local produce. The market offers seasonal fruit and vegetables, herbs and other regional products, often directly from local growers. It is only about 10 minutes from the house and is a simple and authentic way to experience everyday Provençal life. A great place to pick up ingredients for lunch or dinner at the house.
Terre Blanche Golf
Just a short drive from Montauroux, Terre Blanche is one of the leading golf resorts in Provence. Set among rolling hills, pine trees and beautiful Provençal countryside, the resort offers two 18-hole golf courses as well as excellent practice facilities. Whether you are an experienced golfer or simply want to enjoy a round in spectacular surroundings, Terre Blanche is an exceptional place to spend a day. It is about 15 minutes from the house.
LOCAL VINEYARDS
Within around 15–20 minutes of Montauroux, there are several vineyards where you can taste local wines and experience the winemaking traditions of the Var. Among them are Domaine de la Grande Bastide near Tourrettes and Val d’Iris in Seillans. These small local estates offer a relaxed way to discover the region’s wines, browse their cellars or shops, and enjoy the surrounding countryside.
Perfumery in Grasse
Known as the world capital of perfume, Grasse is home to historic perfume houses such as Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard. A visit offers a fascinating look behind the scenes, from traditional distillation to the fragrant flower fields surrounding the town. Grasse is around 30 minutes by car from Montauroux, making it an easy half-day trip. Many of the perfume houses also offer workshops where you can create your own signature scent to take home.
Shopping in Cannes
Around 45 minutes from Montauroux, Cannes offers some of the finest shopping on the French Riviera. Stroll along the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, home to flagship boutiques from the world’s leading fashion houses, or explore Rue d’Antibes with its mix of well-known brands and local shops.With its palm-lined streets, cafés and glamorous atmosphere, Cannes makes an easy and enjoyable day out.
The Gorge
The spectacular Gorges du Verdon is one of the natural highlights of southern France. With dramatic limestone cliffs and striking turquoise water, it is well worth a day trip.You can explore the area by car or on foot, swim in the clear water, or rent a kayak or pedal boat and experience the gorge from the water. From Montauroux, the drive takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes, and the journey itself is part of the experience, with beautiful scenery along the way.
Visit Lavender Field
One of the most iconic sights of Provence is the endless rows of lavender in bloom. For the classic experience, head towards the Plateau de Valensole. A good destination is Lavandes Angelvin, 04210 Valensole, surrounded by some of the region’s best-known fields.The drive from Montauroux takes around 1 hour 45 minutes. The lavender is usually at its best from late June to mid-July.

Located in the centre of Montauroux, Le Marina is a well-established local restaurant that has been part of village life for many years. It is a solid and traditional choice, with a relaxed atmosphere and a very convenient location. A good place for an easy lunch or dinner when you want to stay close to home.
La Fontaine des Glaces (Montauroux)
Located directly on the village square in Montauroux, La Fontaine des Glaces has a wonderfully local atmosphere and a beautiful setting. From the terrace, you can enjoy the views across the surrounding countryside while watching everyday village life around the square. A particularly nice place for a relaxed lunch, dinner or simply a drink.
Le Bellevue (Callian)
Le Bellevue enjoys one of the best locations in Callian, with wonderful views across the surrounding countryside. During the summer, the road outside is closed to traffic, creating a relaxed pedestrian atmosphere around the restaurant and village centre. It is a lovely place to sit outside on a warm evening and enjoy the special atmosphere of Callian.
Au Rendez Vous (Callian)
Au Rendez Vous is located in Callian and has a particularly special connection to La Cachette Verte: from the restaurant, you can look directly across towards our house. With its elevated position and views over the countryside, it is a lovely place for a relaxed meal and a good excuse to spend some time exploring Callian before or after dinner.

GROCERY SHOPPING NEARBY
Despite the peaceful and secluded setting of La Cachette Verte, excellent shopping is only 1–1.5 km from the house. In addition to the local markets and smaller shops in Callian and Montauroux, there is a very good selection of supermarkets and specialist food stores nearby. We particularly recommend visiting E.Leclerc for its impressive selection of fresh produce, wine, cheese and everything you may need during your stay, as well as Fresh, which is especially good for fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and other fresh produce.
LA BOULANGE DE MR LOURS
This small local bakery is one of our favourite morning stops. The selection is not huge, but the baguettes are some of the best we have found in the area, and the coffee is excellent. It is only about a 12-minute walk from the house, although the hills make the walk a little more demanding than the distance might suggest. We often start the day here with a fresh baguette and a coffee on the little square in front of the bakery, watching the village slowly come to life. A simple but very Provençal way to begin the morning.
